INGREDIENTS FOR THE SAUCE: (serves six)500g mince (I use chicken mince)
650g onions
400g canned chopped tomatoes
200g tomato puree (can use ketchup as substitute)
8 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons oregano
two cloves garlic
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon paprika
one glass (125 ml) red wine
one splash worcester sauce
1 teaspoon hot chilli powder
5 cups spaghetti broken in half
7 cups water (to boil spaghetti in)
1/2 cups grated parmasan cheese ( can't have spaghetti without cheese)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Chop the onions - not too finely. Press the garlic. Pour the olive oil into a large saucepan, add the onions and fry them in the olive oil until they change colour.
Now add the tomatoes, tomato concentrate, the honey and the spices. let the whole lot simmer for about an hour with no lid on the sauce pan. (we want the sauce to reduce, to get rid of some water - that will make it much tastier)
Boil the spaghetti in 7 cups of water. Make sure the spaghetti doesn't stick together.
Stir until cooked. (the spaghetti turns thicker and white. You can try the spaghetti.)s
serve while hot.
YUM! i absolutely love this recipe! Most spaghetti bolognese is made with beef, but i think chicken is much tastier. This recipe serves 6 people, but you can reduce this recipe by two, so three can enjoy! Serve with parmasan and basil leaves.
